Haven Care Services specialises in caring for individuals with moderate to high support and complex needs who are 18 years of age and over. By living in an apartment which can be adapted to meeting individual needs where required. Individuals can access local facilities and community life, and a sense of belonging is enhanced.
Our aim is to open up new opportunities for individuals to live a full and purposeful life. This is based on a person-centered approach, giving opportunities to individuals to integrate with others socially. This includes supporting a range of activities such as: swimming, ten-pin-bowling, gym, taking part in local events, walking, inviting guests for dinner, eating out, barbeques, holidays and shopping. Risk assessments are in place for each individual’s activities that have been assessed and completed with keyworkers, other professionals and families in line with company policies, procedures, and care plans which are updated as required.
Sandy Hill Court is situated close to local community facilities i.e., shops, trains, buses and colleges and our Service Users are encouraged according to individual choices and needs to make use of all that is available within the local and wider community.
Life skills training is encouraged which helps Individuals develop daily living skills and routine, self-awareness, confidence and a more independent approach to life. Staff at Haven Care Services will liaise with local F.E. Colleges, day service provisions either educational or leisure based, this will enable staff to arrange and support participation of available placements / activities day or evening. Staff will also liaise with other professionals regarding employment and local advocacy services to promote choice, wishes and independence.
Haven Care has access to external professionals, this will include, SALT, Psychology, Psychiatry, Occupational Therapists, Dieticians and the social work team who will offer guidance, support, staff training and promote professional development when required.
Supported Living
Residents of Sandy Hill Court live in individual apartments and therefore have a great deal of independence and can make decisions about how they live their life. Each resident has his/her own tenancy with an appropriate tenancy agreement. Care staff will support residents with all aspects of their daily living thus improving their life skills by being supported to becoming more independently aware. Residents and their families are fully engaged in their care plans and are supported to undertake activities based on their wishes and needs.
All residents are encouraged to participate in various daily living skills for e.g. cooking, cleaning, laundry and Ironing. Residents with staff support are able to make choices based around budgeting which will include: meal planning, clothing, personal items, activities, and utilities within their household weekly budget.
